The story of Sohan Peda across three generations

Sohan Peda · 28 September 2026 · Updated 13 October 2026

Sohan Peda describes its heritage as a family tradition from about 1970. The public account on this website has three names and very little else. That is intentional.

The three generations

  • Late Mangoo Seth Ji is named as the first generation.
  • Late Mahesh Gupta (Halwai Ji) is named as the second generation.
  • Shri Sohanlal Gupta (Halwai) is named as the third generation and is associated with the present business.

“Halwai” is the Hindi word for a person who makes sweets. It is used here as part of the names the business supplied. It is not a certificate.

What is not on this page

There is no birth year, no list of awards, and no claim that a Geographical Indication tag has been granted. Historical photographs are not shown until the business uploads them to the media gallery.

A dated public mention of Shri Sohanlal Gupta appears in The Times of India on 2 October 2026, in a report about a trade-show order. That article is linked from the exhibitions article. It does not replace the family account above, and it does not add a biography.

The same names are set out on the heritage page.
