ABOUT US
Sohan Peda
A legacy of tradition, taste and trust since 1970
Welcome to Sohan Peda, a traditional Indian sweet brand rooted in the culinary heritage of Malwan, Fatehpur, Uttar Pradesh. For generations, the family has been dedicated to preserving the distinctive taste and traditional identity of Malwan's famous peda.
The journey began around 1970 with the vision and dedication of the family elders, who helped establish a tradition built on craftsmanship, quality and a passion for traditional Indian sweets. Over the decades, this legacy has passed from one generation to the next, carrying forward the values and traditions that define Sohan Peda.

Three generations, one sweet tradition
Sohan Peda represents a family tradition spanning three generations.
The journey began with the late Mangoo Seth Ji, followed by the second generation, the late Mahesh Gupta (Halwai Ji), who continued the family's commitment to traditional sweet-making.
The family's poster names the generations this way. In 1970, late Mangoo Seth Ji began the tradition so that people would receive sweets made from pure milk, and so that this taste would become their identity. Late Mahesh Gupta (Halwai Ji) carried that work on with the same care and made Sohan Peda widely known.
Today the tradition is in the third generation with Shri Sohanlal Gupta (Halwai), named on the poster as proprietor. The poster says the traditional method, purity and quality continue alongside newer technique, without treating that as a laboratory certificate. An earlier family note also names his younger brother, Murli Gupta, with the current generation.
Their vision is to honour the traditions of the past while building a strong future for this distinctive regional sweet.

Recognised under the One District One Cuisine initiative
Sohan Peda is also associated with Uttar Pradesh's One District One Cuisine (ODOC) initiative, which promotes the state's distinctive regional food traditions and culinary products.
This recognition connects the traditional product with the broader effort to showcase Uttar Pradesh's food heritage and create opportunities for local producers to reach wider markets.
The family is proud to represent the culinary identity of Malwan, Fatehpur, and to contribute to the growing recognition of traditional Indian sweets. Their poster describes the sweet as made from pure milk, with a traditional taste and newer packing, and calls the heritage one of about 55 years from 1970.
The same poster records a visit by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Union Home Minister Amit Shah to the Sohan Peda stall at an ODOP exhibition. It says they appreciated the quality, the packing, and the tradition running since 1970, and presents that visit as a moment of pride for Fatehpur district.
Tradition meets new opportunities
While the roots remain connected to Malwan, the vision extends beyond the hometown. Through participation in trade exhibitions and initiatives such as the Uttar Pradesh International Trade Show, Sohan Peda has gained opportunities to introduce its traditional flavour to new audiences.
Media coverage of participation in trade events, and the reported international order for Malwan peda, reflect growing interest in regional Indian food products. That report is not a promise of international delivery from this website. A Geographical Indication tag is not described here as granted.
The aim is to preserve the character of the traditional sweet while developing the brand, packaging and customer reach for modern markets. Read the dated account in the trade exhibitions article.
